This past Thursday marked some serious headway in the West Branch project: heavy wood beams were affixed to the structure to form the roof of the new building.
Chris, the crane operator, taking a moment to relay some details about the beams.
The heavy beams carefully being secured into place.
Here you see a beam being prepped with glue before being lifted skyward.
The crane, at rest, after having lifted many beams to create the new West Branch Roof.
These
beams are large and heavy--at least the weight of a mid-size,
male elephant seal, weighing in around 2,000 lbs. The beams are 4ft
thick, 45ft long and they have traveled all the way here from a mill in Vacouver, WA.
